In the search for meaning
I am sure that part of the empty nest syndrome is asking the question? What now? For many women being a mother is one of the greatest gifts that God gives us. It brings meaning and direction to one’s life for a long period of time. When the children leave and go far away like both of mine have, one reaches this line in the sand with a brick wall feeling. I have been searching for the NOW WHAT GOD PATH in my life for the past few months. I am busy reading a book called Pathway to Purpose for Women by Katie Brazelton. The author states that we need to track the path we have walked as God will use these milestones to help develop our future. I have been doing this for the past few weeks and am starting to see light on the path.
I now have the awesome privilege to help others discover meaning to life as they reach the retirement phase. As much as we all want some leisure time as we grow older we need a reason to get up daily. At the same time my church has asked me to help on a project called Believe in Tomorrow. This project has identified 50 young leaders in high schools in the area who need guidance and life skills so that they will be ready to face the world when they finish school. What a privilege to give back and teach others some of the skills I have been privileged to learn over the past 30 years in the workplace
