As the title suggests, this article from The Star’s Workplace supplement on 8 March 2017 recognises that the traditional notion of retirement is well and truly on its way out. Michelle Moss, Director at Talent Africa, says that senior executives “have no intention of being put out to grass on retirement”. Calling them “experience-rich Peter Pans in their late 50s, 60s and 70s”, Moss says mature managers have a “continued desire for personal meaning”, and, as a result, are picking up on the trend of encore careers.
